“I can’t ask you do more than you already do.” She sighed into his neck. Her breath tickled his skin, causing goosebumps to rise. “You already do so much. Too much. You need to have a life. How will you ever find another woman to share your life with if you spend all your free time taking care of your brother’s widow?”

“Gracey, you’re more than Chad’s widow. You’re family. My best friend. You’ve been a tremendous support for me. I wouldn’t have made it through my divorce a few years back or this past year without you. I will do whatever I can to help you. You know that. We’ve leaned on each other this last year, and I’m not abandoning you now. I’ll always be here for you.”

“I don’t want to be alone anymore.” Her fingers twisted into his t-shirt, pulling him closer as she sobbed.

He tightened his arms around her and tried to ignore the painful squeeze in his heart and his gut. Eventually, she’d move on. She was still young and would find a man to share her life with. Any man would find her a catch. That the thought made his stomach uneasy rocked him. He had no right to feel that way.

The past year had been difficult for everyone in the Riley family. Gracelyn had stayed strong, whether for the kids, for his parents, for him, or for herself he didn’t know. He’d only seen her break down twice: when he told her about Chad’s death, and then at his brother’s burial. Not that she hadn’t shed tears. She did. They both had. Maybe she sobbed every night in the shower or while lying in bed by herself. But Matt hadn’t seen it.

She lifted her head and stared at him through her tears.

He touched her face with the back of his hand, wiping away the tears that streaked her cheeks.

Leaning into him, she cupped his face and pressed her lips to his.

He froze.

What the hell? Was she kissing him? She was distraught, upset. She didn’t know what she was doing.

He couldn’t comprehend what was happening. Soft lips moved against his, kissing him with a confidence that was all Gracelyn. Her fresh strawberry scent enveloped him, wrapping around him like a blanket on a cool autumn evening. She smelled so sweet. So intoxicating. Like summer. Like strawberry jam, despite it being the end of September.

Stop this before it goes any further! She was emotional, reeling from the anniversary of her husband’s death. His own emotions were raw.

When she slid her tongue against the seam of his lips, leaving a trail of cinnamon flavor and longing, his thoughts jumbled in his head—none coherent. And the blood rushing past his ears silenced the inner voice yelling at him, repeating all the reasons he should—no, that he needed to—put an end to this kiss. However, his body’s reaction was perfectly clear. Blood rushed to his dick, engorging it instantly and leaving him lightheaded.

He weaved his fingers through her long tresses, palmed the back of her head and pulled her into him, responding to her kiss. He flicked his tongue over her plush bottom lip.

She sighed, her breath mingled with his. Her lips parted, granting him access.

He took the opening as acquiescence and plunged into her mouth, tasting her.

Jesus Christ! It had been a while since he’d kissed a woman, and he felt it all the way down to his toes. Their tongues danced and dueled.

He released his hold on her head and pulled back, breaking their kiss. Her chest heaved as they both gasped for air. The sunlight filtering in through the bedroom window danced off the golden highlights of her hair, making her look like an angel. His angel.

Their gazes clashed. He expected to see regret or anger in her eyes. Even though she’d instigated the kiss, he should know better. He sucked in a breath. He saw nothing but longing in her blue depths. To his utter surprise, she hauled her t-shirt over her head, baring herself.

Holy shit!

She wore nothing under that shirt—not even a pair of panties. He growled, the sound feral in his ears.

 

 

I received an ARC of IN FLAMES from the very talented author JESSICA JAYNE.In exchange for an honest opinion. This is my opinion of her amazing book. Actually Jessica Jayne has just re-released this book. Having never read the first copy of it.I don’t know what she changed or added. But I can tell you this. THIS ONE IS HOT!!! She has you at the very first page. You are held hostage. The reader will find themself unable to put the book down. This book is a fast read .The way in which Ms Jayne describes her scenes is totally out of this world. You can picture everything -the fire-field- the characters. She describes it all in such depth and detail.
This is a story that starts out tragic for Gracelyn Riley as her husband Chad is a firefighter. He runs into the burning building trying to save a life. Unfortunately -Chad loses his life. Now his brother Matt goes to his house where Chad lived Gracelynn and the kids. They had just gotten back together. It’s not fair- Chad is the one that was the fair haired child of the family. He could do no wrong. As for Matt – nothing he ever did was good enough for his mom. Now he wants to be the one to give Gracelyn the bad news. When she opens the door- Gracelyn realizes why he is there. She starts to fall but Matt catches her. Together they both start to grief for their loss. Over time Matt helps Gracelyn out at her house with a repairs-they spend time together. Every day is the family dinner at his parents house. Gracelyn and the kids still come to it. His mom still refers to her as being Chad’s wife. Now the more time they spend together. The more that they have to fight the love that they have. Matt can’t love his brother’s wife. It’s not right. Gracelyn says it right for her to love Matt as Chad is not here. Will these two get together? Will the family accept the love that they have? For the answers to these and more. You need to get this amazing spelling binding book. I recommend this book for all that love a good adult contemporary romance. I give this 5 mouse paws. Even before she meets him, Louisa sets her sites on marrying him, sure he can’t be worse than her cousin. There’s just one catch: The Captain has no intention of marrying anyone–and is distrustful of women in general. After losing his leg at Trafalgar, his fiancee dumped him on the grounds that he repulsed her. This led him to conclude no woman worth having would ever find him desirable.

A lot goes on between these two. And Louisa’s father as well. There are so many twists and heart-wrenching moments. Make sure to have plenty of Kleenex on hand. What will happen in the end? You’ll have to read it for yourself to find out. You won’t be sorry you did because this book is amazing and hot! I highly recommend it for all romance lovers, but especially those who can’t resist an awesome historical romance set in the Regency period.

After the Captain’s sister quit the room, Louisa took her advice and dozed until a knock on her bedchamber door brought her back to herself. Just as she opened her mouth to ask who was there, Capt. Raynalds called through the door, “Miss Bennet, may I have a word?”

She hesitated before answering. As desperately as she wanted to see him and hear what he came to say, her sense of propriety told her to refuse him entry. The Captain, hands stacked atop his cane, shifted his stance uneasily. “I can understand his motives—he is only doing what he believes best for his family, one can only presume—but I cannot agree with his forcing you to marry a man you abhor. Does he know how much you loathe your cousin?”

“He does.”

“And he insists upon you marrying this man in spite of your feelings?”

“My feelings are of little consequence to my father, I assure you.”

He scrubbed a hand down his face. “Surely there must be some way around marrying this person.”

Did she dare share her idea? No, she mustn’t. If she did, he would never come to trust her. “There is not, short of running away and living as a gypsy.”

He stood there a long time, as if fighting an inner battle. At length, he said, “There is one way I can think of…but I fear I am not the man for the job.”

Louisa’s heart wilted. “You are right. We are strangers. So why should you care what becomes of me?”

Softening in demeanor, he came closer and sat beside her on the bed. “I do care what becomes of you, Miss Bennet—beyond what I am willing to admit—but my heart is not quite invested enough to put a ring on your finger. Neither is my trust. And now, in addition to my standard reservations, I suspect you mean to use me to avoid marrying this cousin of yours.”

“That is untrue!” She looked away so he would not see the desperation in her eyes. “Well, it might be partially true…but I shall endeavor to fall in love with you as soon as I’m able.”

He smiled at her sympathetically. “Forgive me. I by no means wish you unhappy. Truly, I do not. But neither can I consent to binding myself to a woman on the off-chance she will fall in love with me.”

“So, you refuse to help me?”

Turning away from her, he said, with an indignant edge to his voice, “That is supremely unfair, Miss Bennet. Have I not helped you already? Did I not come to your aid when you fell off your horse? Did I not take you in when your own mother left you to my care? Have I not kept my distance to protect you from scandal and ruin?”

The last bit astonished her. Did he really fear what might happen if they were alone together? Were that indeed the case, she might exploit his passions to aid her cause. Much as she hated to resort to such deceitful measures, she could see no other way to escape her marriage to Charles. And it would not be entirely an act; for just now, with him sitting so near, so dangerously near, she wanted nothing more than to be in his arms.

Having read other books written by this fabulous -delicious and very talented author. I already knew that Ms. Mason has a true gift of creativity and imagination. She takes her readers on one wild ride after another. You never know what to expect next. Or even how the story will play out or end. Her characters are so well developed and described. As are the scenes. As a reader you able to visualize everything to the smallest detail.

Once Ms. Mason takes pen to paper a magical -beautiful-amazing and creative story is bursting forth. She has such a creative mind – and the characters talk to her in such a way. That only they can do with her.

DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT -is the second book in the Avalon Series. The first book is Starry Knight. We were introduced to the world of Avalon along with fae. In it we learned that our “Knights” who escaped from Avalon and the wicked Queen. Well -before they actually escaped the devils were her lovers. That is until she got tired of them and had an order for their death sentence to be carried out. Hence their escape from Avalon. Also as Knights of Avalon they also had to drink blood-like vampires.

So as our book opens we are introduced to another Knight. This one is named Leith MacQuill- he uses a pen name to write books. A screenwriter by the name of Gwen Moreland is traveling to his castle. Wanting to meet the author of the screenplay is currently working on. Along with getting a signed contract from Lady Ruthven ( who just so happened to have written the play). As Gwen travels in the coach with other passengers during a bad storm. It gets hits by lighting-goes over the cliff. Seeing the accident happen Leith runs to aide the passengers. When Gwen wakes up -she finds herself in a strange bed. Not knowing what had happened to her or the others. Till she is finally informed.

Little by little Gwen finds out about Leith. She falls for him and wants him more each day. However- he tells her that it can not happen. They can not be together. Not ever! Over time he finally explains the curse that has been placed upon him. How it came to be and who put it there. Gwen wants to fight for them. He tells her to forget about them. As it will only cause her death.

Now will they be able to over the curse? Can Leith escape Avalon and the Queen again to save his true love?

This story has so many different twist and turns. You never know which way you are going. You are left on the edge of your seat/edge of the page reading. Ms. Mason keeps you in such suspense that since you are sitting on the edge of the seat having to know what happens next. You keep reading till you have completed the book. This is one book YOU WILL DEVOUR IN ONE SITTING !!! I recommend this book to all Readers who love Fantasy an Paranormal. Mismousey gives it a firm rating of 80 of 5 stars. Each knight in the series grapples with a different relationship
with Morgan Le Fay, the cruel and selfish queen of Avalon. Callum Lyon, the hero
of STARRY KNIGHT (book one), is free of Morgan’s influence, having escaped enslavement
by faking his own death. Leith MacQuill, the hero of DARK AND STORMY KNIGHT
(book two), was expelled from Avalon after the queen discovered his affair with
one of her scouts. In book three, KNIGHT OF ENCHANTMENT, Axel Lochlann, a Scottish
runemaster of Viking descent, guards the portal between Hitherworld (our realm)
and Thitherworld (the otherworldly realm). The fourth knight, Finn MacKnight, doesn’t
know what he is or that he’s destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy telling of
the queen’s overthrow by a “natural-born” drone. Because of this prophecy,
Morgan kills all the male children she bears and punishes the knights who
father them

Avalonian knights are vampire-like, but not vampires
per se. Members of the Unseelie Fae, they drink blood and can assume the form
of any creature they choose, but generally take the form of a particular animal
to hunt. Callum’s preferred form is a lion, Leith’s is a Kellas Cat (a cross
between a wild cat and a domestic cat found only in Scotland), Axel’s is a
gyrfalcon, and Finn’s will be a jaguar.

“That’s twice in one day I’ve had to save you,” Kemper says, his soft voice soothing my nerves as he presses a cool compress against my forehead. His other hand is cupped around my cheek.
